The iLearning course embodies several elements of learning in an online, independent study environment and planning around the student’s current goals and future plans. Three of those elements include: (1) the student’s Senior (i.e., Culminating) Project; (2) development, maintenance, and completion of the student portfolio; and (3) completion of the High School & Beyond Plan.
These unit requirements must cover the following content, but need not be course specific:
- English will include the study of language, composition and literature. Speech or Debate is required (1 sem. credit).
- Mathematics will include the study of applied math, business math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, fundamentals of calculus, probability and statistics, and/or discrete math.
- Science will include the study of laboratory sciences (2 semester credits).
- Social Studies will include the study of government (2 sem. credits), U.S. history (2 sem. credits), and economics (1 sem. credit).
- Humanities will include the study of interdisciplinary humanities or the related study of one or more of the following: literature, history, philosophy, architecture, music, art, drama, dance, foreign languages, or comparative world religions.
In addition to these credit requirements, students are required to:
- Complete the Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) in reading, math and language
- Complete a community service project
- Create a student portfolio
- Develop a personal plan for high school and beyond
- Complete an exit interview
Although students that enroll in iSucceed after the start of their freshman year are eligible to transfer credits earned towards their graduation requirements, they must be enrolled in at least four courses each semester to be full-time and complete at least ten credits from iSucceed before being eligible to earn a diploma.
